I've installed SP 2010 a gazillion times have lots of trouble installing and configuring the search service. I have three VMs configured with 4 cpus and 8 GB ram each. One is the application server which will host most of the service apps and the others will be NLB FEs. They are running Win08 R2 and connecting to a similar pair of VMs running SQL 08 R2. I created a search service app which took over an hour. I then moved the query component to one of the front ends which took about 7 min. When I try to create a mirror on the opposite FE, I get the below error. I've uninstalled/reinstalled and always end up getting a similar error somewhere. I'm using the article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee805948.aspx to guide my install. There doesn't appear to be any serious errors in the web server. The app server has one that says, "Site 2 has no root application defined, so the site will be ignored." which I believe is a result of my last uninstall. The FE with the query component has a warning (ID 5009) that says, "A process serving application pool 'a8f6eb3a31fa4e93b4af49db85235c70' terminated unexpectedly. The process id was '3796'. The process exit code was '0xfffffffe'." Which is a little weird because there is no app pool with that guid (again, maybe from a previous life). There are no errors on the other FE or in SQL server.
