Trend Micro Officescan Client v8 Script?
My organization utilizes "Trend Micro Officescan Client" v8.0 that is installed on each workstation machine that is centrally managed via a "Trend Micro" control console for the administrator. Does anyone have a script for this anti-virus software that I can use for SteadyState? This is the only thing keeping me from being able to utilize this, as I am unable to manually go around and install the definition updates on the 250+ systems in our organization. Thanks!

Hi, unfortunately, Trend Micro8.0 antivirusis not officially supported by SteadyState currently. We do not have existing script for it. As we do not support custom script development in this forum, you will need to write your own custom update script. When you write a custom script, please pay attention to the following: 1. Custom scripts must be written so that they return only after actions in the custom script have been completed. 2. If a custom script update on a Windows SteadyState computer requires any resources during a scheduled update, such as a valid network connection, the resource must be available at the time of the update. 3. If Trend Micro shows any blocking UI (for example, a dialog that requires user interaction), then the updates will fail. Also, you can refer to the following thread regarding script: Script with schedule update at certain time and disk protection on and set to remove changes http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1951048&SiteID=17 Thanks for your understanding.

I appreciate the effort, butI know nothing of scripting. I was hoping that someone had already written a custom script that they would be willing to share, or could perhaps help me write a custom script. If I am unable to write or obtain a script, is there a way for me to 'force' updates to the virus database on each local machine and have it retain those changes automatically? Can anyone help?

Trend Micro v8 has been out for well over a year, is there still no way for Steady State to detect it? We need to implement SteadyState on about 800 computers but we are having to hold off due to Trend Micro. Anybody got a workaround? We have been down the Mandatory profile road but SteadyState is more what we need. It will keep our lab computers much cleaner. Thanks in advance!

We had to put off rolling out SteadyState on 500 of our computers due to it not supporting our Virus Scan software. It would seem that Microsoft would create scripts to support at least the 10 or 20 most popular Antivirus solutions in order to help reach a broader audience and address the security concerns of it's users. I do hope Trend Micro is supported very soon. The next time we roll-out a new software image will be in December so hopefully by then...

Has anyone had luck with this yet? Thanks.

I have not had any success getting Trend Micro to work on the few test machines I have put Steadystate on. I really hope a solution is found soon, as I do like the software, but am unable to use it if it puts our computers at risk of infection via out of date files.
