Transaction Log Full
Hi, I'm having some strange recurring problem that I can't fix. Every week or so, I get the following error: Database log file is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space The transaction log for database 'OperationsManager' is full. To find out why space in the log cannot be reused, see the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases From the SQL management studio I can see that I have plenty of space free on both the log and the data files of my OperationsManager database. My LOG has 2GB allocated, and 1.9GB free. Data is 4 GB with 2.3 GB free. log_reuse_wait_desc (SELECT name, log_reuse_wait_desc FROM sys.databases) shows "NOTHING" for the all Operations Manager databases. How can I fix this? Thanks. ps: SQL Express 2005 here

Hello ricdgr,How did you find out the available size for the OperationsManager LOG and DATA? Could you please post a screenshot here? Did you enable the Autogrowth forboth MOM_DATA and MOM_LOG files? Also, please check the Event Log for OpsMgr and SQL Server 2005 to see if any related error message logged. Thanks,Yog Li - MSFT

Hi. I can see the space taken if I do the following: - Select the OperationsManager database - Tasks > Shrink - Select "Log" instead of data. - Available free space will show up. Generally it's a lot.

I reinstalled the server and after a month, I get again the same problem: - The transaction log for database 'OperationsManager' is full. To find out why space in the log cannot be reused, see the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases And - Could not write a checkpoint record in database ID 8 because the log is out of space. Contact the database administrator to truncate the log or allocate more space to the database log files. I have plenty of free space on both the log and the database. Also, plenty of free space on disk... How can I fix this?!
