Speaking of the deployment manifest - it is a tool, and there to aid in quickly and easily deploying one or many packages. The solution does not need to be opened to deploy package(s). The config file has to be carried along with the package. In addition to what Nik has just said, consider adopting using PowerShell because SSIS2012 has more use for it and looks like will be the 1st choice tool for automating anything.Arthur My Blog
