Toggleitem and paging visibility
Hi Fanny, I guess what we're looking for is the ability to shrink/grow # of pages in the report, which doesn't appear to be available. Since the report is 200+ pages, expanding the data on a single page will blow up the browser. The pagination is generated on the server side, while expand/collapse is a client-side thing. I don't think expanding will regenerate the # of pages in the report to match the expanded value. Hopefully repagination based on dynamic visibility in the report is an option for next version. cheers, AndrewAndrew Sears, T4G Limited, http://www.performancepointing.com

Hi Andrew, Thanks for your reply. Personally, I think it is a good point that allow pagination in interactively expand or collapse report items. I recommend you that submit the wish at https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/. If the requirement mentioned by customers for many times, the product team may consider to add this feature in the next SQL Server version. Your feedback is valuable for us to improve our products and increase the level of service provided. Regards, Fanny LiuFanny Liu TechNet Community Support

Hello, We have a Reporting Services 2012 report with a toggle item on a group row to set to show / hide the details row of a group. If the report spans 2 or more pages, and the toggle item on the first page is pressed, the visibility is toggled but the group does not shrink. There is a page of whitespace, and then the next page contains the next group. It looks like visibility is being toggled, but rows are not shrinking/growing to compensate for the whitespace. Rather than show a bunch of whitespace, we would expect that it would collapse the toggled group and bring the next group and detail rows back to the first page under the collapsed group row. What property is available to collapse groups across pages? Is it possible? thanks, AndrewAndrew Sears, T4G Limited, http://www.performancepointing.com

Hi Did you try setting the Report level property "ConsumeContainerWhitespace" to true? Regards Harsh

Hi Andrew, Based on your description, I can reproduced the issue in my test environment. The data in my test report are group on a filed which has three instances. When I add a visibility toggle on the detail group, the report is displayed in three pages. There are whitespace in each page under the collapsed group row. To solve this issue, we can specify the initial visibility of the detail group as Hidden. Please refer to the following steps: Right-click the detail group and go to the Visibility tab in Group Properties dialog box. And then select Hidden for initial visibility. In result, the drilldown report will be displayed in a single page when preview the report. It seems that the drilldown report is keep together implicitly. The following thread is about the same issue, please take as reference. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/no/sqlreportingservices/thread/5589de8b-adb9-4087-9665-9d1a03467219 Regards, Fanny LiuFanny Liu TechNet Community Support
