Tivoli Access Manager Junction Point to SharePoint Site - Can AAM Solve this issue?
Hello All,I have IBM TAM 5.1 acting as the SSO provider for external users. External users can reach the TAM using a url, say http://www.contoso.com/. Now in order to access a SharePoint site a junction point is set-up at "/SharePoint", so the URL to reach SharePoint site is "http://www.contoso.com/SharePoint". I've set-up the web application using the host header "SharePoint.contoso.net". This host-header is mapped to the junction point mentioned above i.e.: http://www.contoso.com/SharePoint -> http://SharePoint.contoso.net Basic functionalities like accessing home page or a document library are working fine, the urls for such pages are "http://www.contoso.com/SharePoint/default.aspx" or http://www.contoso.com/SharePoint/docLib/AllItems.aspxrespectively, they include "SharePoint" as part of the URL. But if i try to access 'View All Site Content' or any page that is part of '_Layouts' virtual directory, the URL is wrongly mapped to "http://www.contoso.com/_layouts/viewlists.aspx", as you can see "SharePoint" part is missing in the URL. The site described above is set as root site and does not use managed paths. Also the web app has only 'Default' zone. The default zone is authenticated using Form Based Authentication using TAM. Can AAM be used for solving the above issue? Any helpon this issue isappreciated. Thanks,Subbu

Hello Subbu, We are not the best support resource on IBM TAM. As AAM is used by SharePoint to map web to the correct web application and site so that SharePoint can serve the correct content back to the end user, I think it worth a try in such a scenario. Its recommended for you to configure AAM as the following document: MSDN Blog: What every SharePoint administrator needs to know about Alternate Access Mappings http://blogs.msdn.com/sharepoint/archive/2007/03/06/what-every-sharepoint-administrator-needs-to-know-about-alternate-access-mappings-part-1.aspx If I misunderstood your concern, please post to let me know. Thanks! Regards, Lionel

Hi Subbu,I am also trying to configure TAM with sharepoint. Can you please let me know how did you map http://www.contoso.com/SharePoint -> http://SharePoint.contoso.netcoz whenever I try to map a public url having a junction name in the url somehting like "/sharepoint" in your case, sharepoint throws an error "Url format invalid".Thanks in advance,Anubhav

Hi Subbu! Best practise according to IBM consultants is to use transparent path junctions instead, as explained in http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/tivihelp/v2r1/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.itame.doc_6.0/am60_webseal_admin159.htm We had AJAX & Javascript issues with standard junctions, they were solved by moving to transparent. webSEAL also "likes" having all web apps as likes sites under a Site collection. Good luck! // Tomas
