Timer Service stops automatically
HI All, I have a farm with 2 WF and one index server. In the Web Front servers the timer service stops automatically. We then have to manually start the timer services in services.msc. We are not pretty sure why does it stops again and again. Can anyone
please help to resolve this issue.

Did you look for any messages in event viewer?
The 12 hive log should also show something.
It will probably be a pain to track down if you don't know the exact time it shuts down.--Paul Galvin, Computer Generated Solutions (CGS)

I would start by checking your service pack levels, as this error came under a cummulative update.

I suspect you'll have other error messages in the event log?

Did you check the URL I suggested, as I believe that it covers that error. Is your patch level up to date?
