Hello everyone, I have some reports I need to develop that require some sort of cascading dropdown. Specifically, the users would like a dropdown list of objects that are organized in a tree-like structure. Each object in the dropdown would have a "+" next to it, and the "category" is dyncamially expanded without having to do a full refresh. A bit hard to explain ... think of a directory tree in Explorer. I'd like that, but in a dropdown object. Does such a thing exist in SSRS, or will I be stuck with (multiple) cascading dropdowns? Hi Mike No good news here. The standard parameters in SSRS do not give you the Tree look and feel. The best you can do is some indentation. Most companies that absolutely require that build their own report delivery web sites / applications. That is done by doing some .Net development to develop the screens to capture parameter values and then pass these to the reports using a combination of the SSRS web service and the report viewer component (which can be embedded in a web site or application). In my view this is one of SSRS's biggest weaknesses. HTH Craig Bryden - Please mark correct answers

Hi Mike, Just an idea if you really (and badly) want to implement this: If at all your SSRS is configured in SharePoint Integrated Mode and you have PerformancePoint Services setup, you could import your SSRS Report into PPS and then setup a PPS filter which would get you this effect. Cheers, IceQB Thanks! We don't currently use it in Sharepoint with PPS, but I could probably sell that if the tree like dropdown was passably decent. But - hasn't PPS been discontinued? Is there a replacement forthcoming? I don't want to sell a technology that doesn't have a clear upgrade path in place ... Cheers, -- Mike

No, PPS has not been discontinued. PerformancePoint Server 2007 was available as a standalone entity. With SharePoint 2010, it has been integrated and is available as a Service Application. The Multi Select Tree View control in PerformancePoint Services looks great. Also, a small correction to my previous post (I dont know why I said that :)): It does not matter what type of configuration you have your SSRS in. You could pull your SSRS report in PPS irrespective of the type of configuration (Native or SP Integrated). Cheers, IceQB
