Throttling Works for Windows 8 but not Windows 7

Hi All

DPM 2012 R2 UR5 running on Server 2012 R2

Agent version: 4.2.1297.0

We have an issue with throttling, all our Windows 7 laptops totally ignore it where Windows 8.1 laptops happily abide by whatever we set.

QoS Packet scheduler is enabled on all network connections (client and server), QoS is present across all our Networking kit including DSCP forwarding/pass-through (we'd have much bigger issues if it wasn't).

The Win 8 machines that work are in the same network locations as the Win 7 machines that don't. Does anyone know where to look next?

Hi,

Whether the Windows 7 laptops are added in the same time as Windows 8.1 laptops?

Generally such issue should affect all computers, which make me think if it is causes that actually Windows 7 laptops are added earlier or later which is not actually included or recognized when setting up the throttling.

If available please test to disable current settings and re-set to see if issue still e

Hello, I have tried this, no change.

I have also removed a Win 7 machine from DPM, removed the agent and started again and it is still the same.

Update:

I have updated the drivers on a Windows 7 test laptop to a set published this year with no effect.

QoS is enabled in the drivers Advanced settings.

I removed all group policy from the machine - no effect.

I have also tried adding the REG_SZ below (plus reboot) with no effect:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\QoS]
"Do not use NLA"="1"

I have also tried adding Win 7 laptops to a different DPM server but still no luck.
