The weekday dissapears on Calendar when switching to UK English regional settings
Hi, We use the Day view on SharePoint calendars extensively throughout 200 team sites and since upgrading to SP2007 12 months ago noticed that the 'Monday' 6th June that is normally displayed suddenly lost the 'day' and showed only as 6th June. This is both on the Calendar body and also the SP mini calendar in the master page. I have been assuming this was an error on migration, but having done several tests since on vanilla site collections and ensuring the server has no gremlins I can now safely say the problem occurs when switching the Calendar from English(US) to English(UK). If I switch it back, the day re-appears! any ideas? Many thanks, Julie

Hi, According to your description, in my limited experience, I guess the issue occurs incorrect format. Data picker format depends on your browser settings. Go to Tools->Internet Option->Languages and change your language (UK). Please have a try. Best Regards David Hu

Hi David! Many thanks for the reply. Our browsers are already set to English UK, I have also just added american too (going on your thought train), but it hasn't had any effect. I know that DVWP's don't render UK dates (they forgot to add the uk time code in SP Designer!), and because this occured when we upgraded to 2007 I thought this may be a known bug they simply forgot to account for. However, no-one else seems to be having it so I am assuming everyone else can see the weekday in UK Calendars?

Having put this question forward to an 'Ask The Experts Panel' at a recent UK SharePoint Conference, I wasn't lucky enough to get this question answered but was intrigued by the fact the question was welcomed as 'relevant'. Since then I have emailed some UK counterparts and asked them to test this and they experience the same. The answer? SharePoint simply does not support UK regional settings on their calendars in day view. Nor does it when you convert a LVWP to DVWP. Poor cousins? As a workaround I have had to create recurring 'all day events' for the day of the week to show at the top of each day view. A really poor and naff solution when I am delivering to 200 team sites that use the day view extensively as their home page 'bible' :-( Hoping in advance that this is 'sorted' in 2010?
