The server is already in use as a site system for another SMS site
I've been trying to install a new Secondary Site in a server called SanAntonio ... I'm getting the error: The sender cannot install secondary site "M36" on server "Sanantonio.missionfoods.com". Possible cause: The server is already in use as a site system for another SMS site. Solution: Install secondary site "M36" on a different server. I already performed this procedure in the server: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828370/en-us and anyways it's not working. I already checked practically everything in SanAntonio, it doesnt have any Registry keys of the ones listed in the procedure. There are no pending jobs... The SMS_Bootstrap.ini file is created and this is the information it has: [Identification] Action=InstallSecondarySite [Options] SiteCode=M36 SiteName=Sanantonio SiteDomain= ServiceAccount= ServiceAccountPassword= ServiceAccountDomain=. PublicKey= ServerPlatforms=* OptionalUnits=REMOTE CONTROL SMSInstallDir=g:\sms ParentSiteCode=M00 ParentSiteServer=COLINASB061 AddressType=MS_LAN SecurityMode=Advanced SiteSecurityMode=MIXED LanUser=3DC0A6C261DB5CDFBB5EFF5E3B0C84A1AA752DF11EF5FE45006BC62AF492025C2BB37A397360B8 LanUserPassword=9FCB970AEB4BD6B31ED717B2CFBE4A27960F1A0BD6B38D56FC8C62C57B0A24A09CA61C782894AB AddressKey=B5066DB58B1BF76B96E83ED356677DBD8B68200F8E [Bootstrap] Action=Install SetupPath=\SMSSETUP\bin\i386\setup.exe BuildNumber=6487 InstallMapPath=\SMSSETUP\install.map SecurityMode=Advanced There's no configmgrsetup.log or any other saying any progress on the isntall. The thing is I did not manage this server in the past and I dont know if there was another SMS before. According to the guys from IT it had no other SMS before.... so I dont know how to proceed here or where to look. Unfortunately we do not have another server on that location and we need some things to be sent there, so this one needs to be a secondary site. I will appreciate your help.

Is it a 64-bit system? If so, did you check for HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\SMS? Also, why not just rebuild the system to ensure that it is clean? Server 2008 R2 take 10-15 minutes to reinstall.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys

Good day Jason: Unfortunately I can't rebuild the system since it's being used by other applications. But, good news is that the key that you just told me is there!!! Well, it was a little bit different, SMS is inside Microsoft, but it's practically the same: HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\SMS and I noticed this has the following key: SMS_SiteSystemToSiteServerConnection_M26 So that means probably SanAntonio was site M26 before, but they werent sure about it... So I removed everything, incluiding this key that I was always missing, and I hope that makes it work! I will let you know. Many thanks.

You have to check the SLP and System management container in AD if the Site Code which you are giving available there. delete that.Sharad Singh | My blogs: SharadTech | Twitter: @MrLucknowWale |

That was the thing Jason. Many thanks That key was the one affecting everything. Probably this one should be added to the documented ones. Again, many thanks. I was able to install the site.
