The Rights Management Services (RMS) client on a computer running Windows SharePoint Services registered an error with its environment
I have a medium MOSS 2007 farm. Both MOSS WFEs run Win2008R2 x64 STD on HP Proliant Blades. I have an application server running in VM (VSphere). All servers run MOSS version is SP2 + Feb 2010 CU (12.0.0.6529). WFEs use Windows NLB. My WFEs are getting the following event log error. Log Name: Application Source: Windows SharePoint Services 3 Date: 6/28/2010 8:25:02 AM Event ID: 5062 Task Category: IRM Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: ENGOSS13n01.<FQDN>.com Description: Information Rights Management (IRM): There was a problem while trying to activate a rights account certificate. The specific problem could not be determined. Additional Data Error value: 80070057 Server URL: /_wmcs/certification Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Windows SharePoint Services 3" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">5062</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>1087</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2010-06-28T14:25:02.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>43638</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>ENGOSS13n01.fqdn.com</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>80070057</Data> <Data>/_wmcs/certification</Data> </EventData> </Event> I am getting the error about a half dozen times each morning on one node or the other. We have not configured IRM in our Domain nor in the MOSS farm. Anyone know how to resolve this short of setting up IRM, which we don't want to do?

Installing IRM is a manual process that required AD RMS and WRM Client on the WFEs, so you would know if you had done this. I understand that you said that have not configured this, but your environment seems to be telling you otherwise so I would run through these things. Is this only happening from your login or workstation? Has the Windows Rights Management Client been installed on the WFEs? Triple check on all the WFEs: Go to Central Admin > Operations > under Security Configuration > Information Rights Management. Make sure it says Do not use on this Server. IRM is configured at the list and/or library level. Are there any in the environment with this enabled? Is AD RMS installed? If so: What happens if you go to c: /inetpub/wwwroot/_wmcs/certification. - Does this exist?Tony Parker, MSCE . MCTP. MCITP "Anything worth doing, is worth doing right"

Sorry I did not get notified that there was ever a reply and was side tracked on another priority issue. RMS Client was not installed on the servers. I didn't think I needed it since we didn't configure and don't use IRM. We do not want this used. I have double, triple, and quadruple checked and "Do not use IRM on this server" is selected in SPCA Is there a script I can use to check all libraries and lists in the farm (>135GB worth of content DBs) No such directory (_wmcs) exists in this location. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Hi All, I do have the same issue as of DWMCP. RMS is not installed in any of the SP farm servers, but these alerts are keeping coming. Additional Data Error value: 80070057 Server URL: /_wmcs/certification Does anyone have a fix for this issue. Any assistance here would be most appriciated. Mohammed Hussain
