The Exchange Mail Channel failed in attempting to delete a mail item that it had processed
Hi, I seem to be having connectivity issues between FIM and Exchange 2007 server. The fimservice account has a Exchange 2007 mailbox. I am getting the following error after FIM processes some requests. “The Exchange Mail Channel failed in attempting to delete a mail item that it had processed.” When Outlook send a request to FIM Service mailbox, it processes it well and then it starts reporting this issue. Once this issue starts it doesn’t read any new requests. Eventually, it reports the following: The Exchange Mail Request Context is aborting, which signifies that some error has occurred in the channel between Microsoft Exchange and the Forefront Identity Management Service. Asynchronous result completed with an exception: System.InvalidOperationException: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.. Asynchronous result completed with an exception: System.InvalidOperationException: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.. Would really appreciate any direction you can offer. BTW..the problem goes away temporarily once the FIM Service is started after accessing the fimservice mailbox from Outlook. The problem resurfaces after processing few more email requests. Jameel, Do you perchance have more than one FIM Service installed? If so is more than one set up to poll exchange? Check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\FIMService PollExchangeEnabled (1 means enabled 0 disabled)David Lundell www.ilmBestPractices.com

David, Thanks for pointing this out. I had just one FIM Service enabled. However, to validate that FIM Service account was able to access the mailbox, I had accessed it once from Outlook as that account. I am thinking that might have caused it. I dont see this problem anymore. Thanks, Jameel Thanks & Regards, Jameel Syed Principal Consultant, fimGuru - Your window into simplified identities jameel.syed@fimguru.com - http://www.fimguru.com
