Testing SharePoint Designer
I have a TechNet subscription. I have purchased the fully licensed version of SharePoint 2013 and its associated CALs. I currently have licenses for Office 2010 Pro Plus and Visio 2010 Pro. I am trying to test the 2013 SharePoint designer functionality. I successfully downloaded and installed Office 2013 Pro Plus and Visio Pro 2013 form TechNet. However, when I try to install SharePoint Designer 2013 it states it can't load/install it with a 'Preview Version" of Office 2013 and Visio 2013. How am I supposed to test using these products with the SharePoint Designer? I don't get it. What is the point of having test licenses if they aren't going to work? Was an old version of these products posted on TechNet or is the version supplied for testing not allowed to be tested with SharePoint? If the latter is true, then I don't understand why they are even available on TechNet. Is there a version I can download that will let me test Office Pro Plus, Visio, and SharePoint designer? TIA

It sounds like you installed the preview builds of Office 2013 and visio 2013 (both RTM and Preview are on TechNet). Can you grab the final release builds from TechNet and try again? My CodePlex - My Blog - My Twitter Join me at the San Francisco SharePoint User Group! I never downloaded or installed an RTM or Preview version. I only see one version on TechNet and it states the release date as 10/24/2012. (there are of course, the x86, x64, both versions of software to download). I am mystified, how is the SharePoint designer software determining that I have a preview version. I have searched for an answer and found references stating to delete specific registry keys that begin and end with specific numbers but those keys are not in my registry.

Okay, the problem wasn't that Office 2013 or Visio 2013 was a preview... I was given a copy of the SharePoint 2013 Designer that was a preview. I downloaded the right version of the designer and all is good. Thanks everyone.
