Task manager - The requested Ressource is already in use.

Hello,

I have a problem, which occurs on our Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual machine. When I try to open some programs, e.g. the task manager as a normal user, a message pops up and says:

" C:\Windows\system32\taskmgr.exe

The requested Ressource is already in use." (translated from german)

When I open these programs as administrator, they work normal.

I thought, that this might be a virus, but scans with multiple Anti Virus Software (Hitman Pro, Malwarebytes Anti Malware, Desinfect 2015 Rescue Disk) showed no results.

We have a domain and all users have the right to execute the task manager and other programs that show the same message.

Is there maybe an option that I have to activate or something else that i can do to solve this?

Hi

Check if it is denied by GPO. Open Group Policy Management, expand Policies>User Configuration>Administrative Templates>System. There are two related settings: Run only specified Windows applications and don't run specified Windows applications.

If not using GPO, we could check the local group policy. Open Local Group Policy Editor and check the settings.

If it's not denied by GPO, I suppose we could use Process Monitor to analyze the problem. We could find out what denied the access.

Here is the guide:
