Task Sequnce won't start due to network driver not loading
I have been trying to get our Windows 7 task sequence to start on a batch of Lenovo M55's. The computers PXE boot just fine but when they load up the TS they don't aquire an IP address. I have all the Broadcom drivers loaded into the WinPE image that I could find for this model but something is missing. I've also tried to get them to image using TS boot media and I encounter the same problem. Oddly enough when the computers are loading the WinPE image from the media the NIC driver loads fine but after it reboots and begins the TS the drivers no longer work. Any ideas?

"but after it reboots and begins the TS the drivers no longer work" that's because it's staging a boot image and it's that image that doesnt have the NIC drivers in it, find out what boot wim that is and add the nic drivers to it and try again cheers niall My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

Same problem I just had the Niall helped me with. Here is the thread (Different model but same issue with the staging) http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/b5ecb342-6be1-4e11-ab72-43eeb1ee8382

Try to add all NIC drivers available for the Lenovo M55 model and try again. Otherwise look in Windows 7 (before re-install) which NIC driver is present. Try to add that specific NIC driver to your boot image. My ConfigMgr blog: http://henkhoogendoorn.blogspot.com Follow me on Twitter: @henkhoogendoorn

You also need to insert the network adapter driver into the Windows 7 system image. Use the DISM command lines. I've tried all the things listed here and still haven't found the bug. These Lenovo's I have came with and additional NIC as well and I have found that if I use a boot disk and force the TS to run on the secondary card it will work. I've also found that if I boot to the x64 WinPE image TS will run. So there must be an issue with the x86 driver I am guessing. Needless to say this has been driving me crazy. Thanks for all the advice.

The driver I am using for it is 3Com 10/100/1000 PCI - Maybe that will help? Try going to this site www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-66441.html , it forwards to Lenovo but do a search for your drivers and download the ones you need, intel or broadcom. It is a package that has all drivers in it I beleive. Also check your driver you have in your boot image to make sure it is x86 compatable. Maybe you only have the x64? You can check that by going to either your driver package (if you have one) or where ever you ported them into SCCM. There is an Applicability tab, that will tell you what it works for.
