Task Sequence Media not showing USB Drive

I have created an OSD task sequence to migrate from WIndows XP to Windows 7. The Task Sequence works great from the software install and from a DVD, but I need to create a USB stick.

When I go to Create Task Sequence Media -> Stand-alone media and select "USB flash drive" as a radio button the drop down does not have my USB drive.

I tried to create a DVD ISO and export it to the USB stick but when I run it I get: "an error occurred while starting the task sequence" 0x80004005

My USB stick is seen fine in Windows.

does anyone know why my USB stick is not seen?

I have rebooted and uninstalled/re-installed Configuration Manager c

Hi,

What does the disk present itself as in Windows Explorer? It must present itself as a removable disk, the new USB memory that is certified for Windows-to-go is displayed as a disk instead of a removable disk, then you cannot use the wizard to put the files on that memory, you can always create an .iso file instead and then extract it to the USB memory.

I had similar problems at some point but couldn't figure out what was the reason it didn't work.. I rounded the problem by creating a .ISO of the task sequence and then used 3rd party tool called ISOtoUSB which did the stick for me.

The problem was as you said. SanDisk USB drives do not show as removable disks. I bought a PNY and everything worked great.

The extract from ISO to USB disk did not work. I kept getting a 0x80004005 when starting the task sequence.
