Task Scheduler Tasks Monitor
Hello, I saw several MPs or blogs about monitoring the Task Scheduler Tasks but which oneis most recommended, most used... any comments on comparison between them? I have checked some of them but it is far from exhaustive: http://blogs.technet.com/b/yasc/archive/2008/04/16/monitoring-scheduled-taks-with-ops-mgr-2007.aspx http://contoso.se/blog/?p=206 http://rburri.wordpress.com/2008/02/14/windows-scheduled-tasks-management-pack-for-opsmgr-2007/ I saw the excellent analysis from Shaikh, thanks for this excellent comparison. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/operationsmanagermgmtpacks/thread/d084f145-0976-4cc4-96ae-fe352b312d01 Thanks, Dom System Center Operations Manager 2007 / System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 / Forefront Client Security / Forefront Identity Manager

Hello, I tried to do some overrides on the MP but it does give me all the Groups created. Which criteria will limit the list of Group available for an override on a Monitor Thanks, DomSystem Center Operations Manager 2007 / System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 / Forefront Client Security / Forefront Identity Manager

Hello, I create a group of machines for which I want to use this MP. I disabled the Monitor.(it was too noisy ... 1500 alerts in an hour!!!) The Entity Health is Disabled for the class "Scheduled Task" it is was I am seing in any Override Summary ... How to Enable it back if needed? Now I tried to do some overrides on the Monitor to Enable it for the Group I need but it does give me all the Group created. Which criteria will limit the list of Group available for an override on a Monitor. Is it because the MP of the Monitor is unsealed? (it is a custom MP as picked from the link above...) Is it because the Monitor was previously disabled? How to enable only for this Group? Task Scheduler - Entity Health Health Library - Availability Health Library o Check if the service is running Sample MP - Task Scheduler I am able to see the group to Enable the "Check if the service is running" during overrides only onthe MP Health Library not on Sample MP - Task Scheduler. Hello Graham, I was reviewing the comparison http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/operationsmanagermgmtpacks/thread/d084f145-0976-4cc4-96ae-fe352b312d01 and it seems it did not detect/identify the reason for the failed status such as account disabled, locked, or executable does not exist in the specified path because there are no seperate monitors to detect these conditions. In my environment the details is always a pain and always requested... My be a just need to seal it to make it available for the Override??? I might need to delete Administration > Management Packs > Right Click on the MP ... Delete ... the actual MP chosen and use the same as you... even there is this bump I will face... what is your opinion as you are using it? R. Burri's MP: Cons: - Sealed MP so can't make modification (add/modify alert description etc.) - Did not detect/identify the reason for the failed status such as account desabled, locked, or executable does not exist in the specified path because there are no seperate monitors to detect these conditions. Pros: - Alert description field is populated - Product Knowledge information available - Added more options in the Actions Pane that are useful Yasc's MP: Cons: - There is no product Knowledge information - Alert description field is not populated out of the box Pros: - Unseald MP. So we can make modification such as adding custom alert description - Detected/identified the reason for the failed status such as account desabled, locked, or executable does not exist in the specified path - There are additional checks such as this one - it alerted when "Task Scheduler" service was stopped Inovativ's MP: Cons: - Sealed MP so can't make modification (alert description etc.) - Did not detect/identify the reason for the failed status such as account desabled, locked, or executable does not exist in the specified path because there are no seperate monitors to detect these conditions. Pros: - One size (1 alert out of the box) fits all ;) Thanks, Dom System Center Operations Manager 2007 / System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 / Forefront Client Security / Forefront Identity Manager
