Task List Roll-up?
I have three task lists. One list for each group in a department. Each group has its own SP site as a subsite of the department site. What I'd like to do is create a task list roll-up view for the department manager so that he can see all the tasks across the three groups in one list. I thought maybe I could do this with a DVWP, but I could use just a little nudge in the right direction. Any thoughts?

I had the same thing to do, but from more than seven subsites and from all tasks lists. What I did is I created a webpart and iterated through all the sites, and picked up all the tasks lists and from those tasks lists, picked up the list items, binded them to the grid view. I am not sure if you can do this one with dvwp , I tried but we have to do linked datasources. So I did with custom code.

Kevin- This blog post helped me get what I wanted for rolling up tasks on a site and its subsites. It doesn't go across site collections however. http://blog.mastykarz.nl/inconvenient-user-tasks-web-part-display-all-tasks/

Hi Kevin, If you have MOSS 2007 then you can use the Content Query Web Part to do this. You will only be able to rollup tasks from within the same site collection though. If you are open to using a third party product then check out the Lightning Conductor Web Part which is something we have built. There is an article here about using it to roll up tasks across sites and site collections: SharePoint Tasks Rollup Hope this helps Nick SwanLightning Tools
