in my TS I am trying to map a network drive to write some logs etc. to.. 

but when the TS runs the client maps the drive, but in a disconnected state.. if I am logged in with a test user.. not admin, I can open the drive without problems.. but the rest of my TS fails..

Hi,

Task Squences run in the System Context that is why you see it as disconnected when logged on, I would try granting domain computer permissions to the share instead and connect the drive using that credentials instead.

As you installation will run in the System Context as well.
