TSWebAccess Webpart can't find Terminal Server
a. Windows Server 2008 with TS Web Access installed and MOSS 2007
b. Windows Server 2008 R2 in Remote Desktop Services installed and configured.
The SharePoint web part is installed and I an add the web part in the site. But when I try to add the terminal server name I get:
TS Web Access was not able to access the specified terminal server. Verify that the computer account of the TS Web Access server is added to the TS Web Access Computers security group on the terminal server.
Any ideas why this is happening. I saw other threads with the same error and no answer yet, so I guess I'm not the only one having the problem.
Thanks

Hi, Costas
Sorry for my late reply!
Here is the scenario as I understand:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have a Windows server 2008 with TS web access and MOSS 2007
The second server is a Windows Server 2008 R2 with RDS
When trying to add the Terminal Server name to TSWeb you get the above error:” TS Web Access was… the terminal server”.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Would you please check if the TS Web Access server name is added to the TS Web Access Computers security group on the Terminal Server first?
You check following the steps:
·
On the 2008 R2 Terminal Server go to Server Manager and select “Configuration”, go to Local Users and Groups
·
Under “Groups” you will find the TS Web Access Computers security group.
·
Add the TS Web Access server name there and reboot the 2008 R2 Terminal Server.
If possible, please also let us know:
·
Are both the TS and the Web access server in the same network?
·
Are both the part of the same domain?
·
Are we performing the above steps of adding the TS in the TS Web settings page via a domain admin account?
Thanks for your understanding and detailed information!
Best Regards,
Aaron

The TS Web Access server is part of the TS Web Access Computers group on the Terminal Server.
Both TS and Web Access servers are in the same network and part of the same domain. All the steps are performed by a domain admin account.
The Terminal Server infrastructure works perfectly. Nothing is wrong there. When I type the TS server name in the configuration of TS Web Access it accepts it. The only problem is when I type the name of the TS server in the SharePoint Web Part.
Any other ideas?
Thanks

Let me rephrase the question....
Does anyone have this working properly with SharePoint on one server and Terminal Server on another? I can't find enough information on this so either it doesn't work or it works perfectly and I'm the only one that has the problem (the latter seems a bit
strange)

Hi, Costas
Sorry for my late reply!
After some research, this error seems still to be related to permission setting.
The following articles show similar problems and solutions(not in a webpart):
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc775344(WS.10).aspx
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverTS/thread/d2566629-2edc-45da-82af-3ccd03ba3614
However, your error appeared inside the TSWebAccess Webpart, but this message was also caught from windows level.
Would you please also check the login user’s permission, did it also have enough permission?
In addition, since it is a partially a windows server Terminal Services problem, you could also ask this question in
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverTS, the
experts there may also give some valuable suggestions or trouble shooting steps on your issue.
Hope this can help, and thanks for your corporation!

Aaron

Aaron,
First of all thanks for the reply.
I have to repeat myself here..... I have no problems at all outside SharePoint. The Terminal Server works ok so that is not a Terminal Server issue. The account I use to connect, both in Terminal Services and SharePoint is a domain administrator account.
In other words, that has to be a SharePoint issue.
I still didn't get an answer to my question if anyone has this working properly which makes me think that most probably doesn't work unless something chantes. What would that change be? I have no clue, but I'm thinking something in the web.config creates
the problem

Hi, Costas
Sorry for the late reply, I was on training these days.
I’m afraid there is no solid way to track it down to a specific configuration file or permission, but you can try running “inetmgr”(without quotation marks) from run prompt.
Navigate to “Sites”. Check and compare the permissions and configuration settings for +RDWEB and as that of customer SharePoint site.
It is the good chance that SharePoint site was not having permissions for “RDwebaccess” account.
Sorry for your inconvenience.

Aaron
