System Center Essentials 2007 SP1 on Server 2008 fails on SQL Reporting Services
I've reviewed the other threads similar to mine but have not yet been able to find a solutions. I have checked to make sure Reporting Services are installed and the service is running. I can view them at http://server/reports and http://server/reportserver just returns a simple page with the version of Reporting Services. When I go into IIS Manager I don't see the virtual directories for reports and reportserver so I'm not sure if that is an issue. The log file for the setup shows: EnumSRSInstances found SRS instance, servicepack : 0. EnumSRSInstances found invalid SRS instance: MSSQLSERVER. EnumSRSInstances: no SRSinstances found. So far I've yet to be able to get past the part where the install checks for a valid local Reporting Service. What else should I look at to get this setup? ----- Running Server 2008 with SQL Server 2008 Standard.

Hi, 1.In IIS Manager, open the Sites folder, and then open the folder of the Web site that contains the reportserver virtual directory. 2.Select the report server virtual directory. 3.In the IIS area, double-click Handlers Mappings. 4.In the Actions pane, click Edit feature Permissions. 5.Click Script. 6.Click OK. 7.Repeat steps 2-6 for reports virtual directory For information:http://blog.exceedio.com/2008/05/01/installation-guide-for-system-center-essentials-sp1-on-windows-server-2008-x86/Also, please note if Server 2008 is 64bit, the SRS shoule be 64bit too.HTH. When I go into the IIS Manager > Sites > Default Web Site (the only one available) the only folder is aspnet_client. The Reports and ReportsServer virtual folders are not there. Yet I can still go to http://server/reports and http://server/reportserver and get web pages back. I checked the Reporting Services Configuration Manager and I can connect and it is started. Web Service URL has the Virtual directory set as ReportServer and Report Manager URL has the Virtual Directory set as Reports. I also ran the SQL Server 2008 SP1 and that seems to have helped some. The logs have more detailed information about looking for the Reporting Services. I've sent the log file to scedata@microsoft.com.
