System Center Endpoint Client

We have different system center endpoint client versions installed on our University computers, but all of them have up to date

DAT files and Engine version.  All these machines getting updates on regular basis.

My question is  do I have to install the latest client or old client is good enough, since all the desktops with different client versions getting updates.
