Hi

Please make sure that all other real-time antimalware products are removed and Windows Defender is disabled.

No other antimailware products are installed.  Forefront was installed at one time, but was removed when Endpoint was installed.  There is only one instance of MsMpEng.exe running.

Hi,

Based on your description, this might happen when the previous forefront files are not being completely uninstalled from the computer.

Another important aspect for troubleshooting is to look into computer registry. You need to clean the residual records of previous forefront.

Also, you should install a new .NET framework. If the current version does not work after repairing, you need to download the latest one on Microsoft official website and install it on your computer.

I went through the registry and deleted most of the forefront records, but a few of them won't let me delete them (Error while deleting key), I tried in safemode as well:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Forefront

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_FCSAM

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_FCSAM

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_FCSAM

I also instsalled .NET 4, but still no luck.

Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) as they can work with you to solve this problem.
