Synchronize GAL between 2 forests
Hello, I am trying to synchronize 2 forests that have forest A exchange 2007 (this is our current email system) forest b exchange 2010 I was using IIFP to synchronize the accounts that I created. I created 2 accounts in each forest and then had them synced and I see them now as contacts in their respective foreests. The issue i have is I do not see them in the GAL. I was told there are issues with IIFP with this specifically. SO my question is, will FIM handle this allot better and if so are there install docs to set this up? Can I install FIM on the same IIFP server? Are there any issues with FIM and exchange 2007? Thanks

You can't install FIM and IIFP together. FIM will at least support Exch 2007 and 2010 properly. If all you want is to create contacts and it's not a very complicated setup then this script may be enough for you: http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis/a-galsync-powershell-scripthttp://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

Yes, All I want to do is sync the users of GAL from our exchange 2007 server with our exchange 2010 because eventually I would like to move all the users over to the exchange 2010 forest. I am doing a move mailbox from exchange 2007 to exchange 2010 and then I would like to sync up the GAL so that the users mailbox will still be accessible. I have successfully moved a mailbox but noticed that the users mailbox is not in the GAL. To accomplish this after the move I have to do a sync. My goal is to slowly move mailboxes form old forest with exchange 2007 to new forest with exchange 2010.

Yes, FIM 2010 will handle this better because it will run PS scripts as part of its exports to handle the legacyExchangeDN and so forth. With IIFP you need to run the PS scripts separately on an Exchange server, as your other thread mentions.
