Sync Excel file with Sharepoint
I have a Excel file that i want to upload to sharepoint- but it must open in a webpage instead of an excel file. I also want to be able to when i edit the actual file on my computer, for the file to sync/update the one i have on my sharepoint site. Is there any other way this is possible other than actually going on the sharepoint site and clicking edit? as i know that works but it takes quite a while for the file to load up and its not really the most convenient thing to do. In a perfect world, id be able to use the actual file on my desktop and it sync from there. Just want to check if this is possible as im sure some of you have used sharepoint more than me. Thanks.

Groove allow you to sync local files with sharepoint library files... its not a file format.... this could allow you to work on an excel files (as well as any other type of file) on your workstation "Offline" than sync it with a document library... You could also search for other 3rd party tools that allow you to do this... Ok that sounds perfect. Out of interest will this also allow me to save the file on sharepoint in a web page format- so it doesnt open up in excel. Whil eallowing my local file to open up in Excel? -because this is another thing that id like to happen. So half the problem solved, just need to find out how to do this now.

Yes excel service could display an excel file in the browser with the Excel Web Access webpart... here is a video explaining how to enable excel service on sharepoint server 2007... http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/sharepointserver/HA102078901033.aspx
