Supported versions of Config Manager 2012 in order to deploy Windows 10

Hello All

We are looking at deploying Windows 10 in the coming months. However, right now our enviorment is SCCM 2012 SP1 and planning to upgrade to SCCM 2012 R2. From my research it looks like we can only deploy Windows with SCCM 2012 R2 versions and later, for example SCCM 2012 R2 SP1. I am planning on holding off on the deployment until we upgrade out Primary and seconday site servers to R2. Can anyone validate this for me? Also has anyone started the deployment to Windows 10 using SCCM?

Yes, you need to be on SP2 / R2 SP1 to support deploying and managing Windows 10 clients.

Sorry, I know it is confusing.  Jason Sandys has a great article explaining it in detail, but basically if you own R2, you should get R2 installed and then SP1 for R2.

You could go straight from SP1 to SP2, and then later install R2 which would convert it to R2 SP1...  clear as mud?

I hope that helps,

R2 is not required for W10 support.

Also remember to install ADK 10 (youll need to uninstall previous ADK versions).
