Supported phone number syntax under channel setting to enable SMS text alerts?
I have a Multitech MTCBA-G-U-F4 USB modem attached to my RMS. I am encountering issues where the Operations Manager can sometimes send via this device and sometimes it does not. I have a bunch of different errors reported to the OM console.
In my troubleshooting I contacted the vendor and they told me I should not be using a "+" prefix to my phone numbers. Unfortunately, I don't know what the supported syntax for phone number entries is. Right now, only the following syntax works
part of the time for me.
+12162345678
Can someone tell me other supported formats? Below are the alerts I see in Operations Manager
--------
Notification subsystem failed to send notification using device/server 'MultiTech Systems USB GSM_GPRS Wireless Modem' over 'SMS' protocol to '+12162345678'. Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.HealthService.Modules.Notification.SmsNotificationException: Sms

It looks like youa re having either correct messages (they all seem to be driven by errors raise on you device. Suggest you use telnet and get a # that your device can handle then use that in OM.Microsoft Corporation

Hi.
Have you seen this post?

Run the Putty commands in that post and I'll think you'll be good to go.. :)

I have run through that one before. I also tried
http://svintinner.blogspot.com/2008/02/how-to-configure-scom-2007-to-send-sms.html
I still do not get proper communication. Is there some type of verbose logging that can be turned on via Operations Manager so I can see what it is trying to pass to the modem? I have tried contacting Multi-tech (the makers of the modem) and
they are L-A-M-E in trying to help me resolve the problem. As far as they are concerned, their modems are never the issue.

That's the problem. The device handles a few different formats. Unfortunately, I get 31500 notification errors in the RMS event log when I try the other formats. Instead of trial and error, I thought I would post here.
