Suggestions to help clear a former content type and use a new content type within an existing document library
Why not just add the new content type and hide the previous content type so that no more documents can use the old content type? you can hide the old content type by using 'change new button order and default content type' and uncheck the old content type to hide it.Shubham Goyal

I have created an old content type called "Document" and have populated several hundred documents with metadata from that content type. Since that time, I have had to create a new content type called "ABLDocuments" with similar metadata, but not exactly the same. Now I want to start using only the new content type, and eliminate all former connections to the old content type, and the content type itself. to make matters worse, I have some columns that have the same name in both content types. Is there a simple way to do this without losing metadata? I am using MOSS 2007.Robert Douglas rdouglas1@gmail.com
