Sub sites showing at top level on quick launch menu
After making a number of Teamsites, I am experimenting with Publishing sites. I am experiencing odd behavior in the Quick Launch and don't know if this is a function of the Publishing template or one of the configurations I have tinkered with.
The problem is that when I make a new site in my collection, the site name is displayed in the quick launch in the same heirarchy as Sites, Lists, Documents, etc., instead of showing up UNDER the Sites category. Can anyone advise please? There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

Hi,
Can you go to the Sub site, Site Actions-->Site Settings--> Modify Navigation.
In the Site Navigation Settings page
Uncheck Show sub sites
Change the Current Navigation to "Display only the navigation items below the current site"

That doesn't quite do what I need. Why does the top site in the collection show the site collection sites at the top level heirarchy in the Quick Launch? And why does the Quick Launch in Subsite not show the usual default headings such as Discussions,
Documents, Lists, People and Groups? There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

Hi,
I think this is due to the by design of the Publishing template.

Yeah, I've been playing around with it and it requires (allows?) you to customize it anyway you need, so I suppose it creates a pretty bare QL by default when you make a new publishing site. I just don't like how it handles these sites on the site
collection Home page QL.There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.
