Strange performance issue? This one is a brain bender
I have a stadard WSS 3.0 team site, no customization, no custom webparts, it is 100% out of the box. All of my XP users are reporting very slow load times, it takes about 1 min for default page to load. All of the Vista users are seeing near instant load times. Now.. Here are the varibles I have elminated: Antivirus has been removed Windows Firewall has been disabled No other software firewall is running Some XP users are IE 6, some are IE 7, all have the same performance issues. Sharepoint URL's have been added to the trusted sites list for everybody XP machines are a 100% clean XP SP2 builds, with all the updates from windows update No software is installed other than Office 2003, or Office 2007 Any ideas?

How's the performance when you hit the site from the server? John SharePoint911: SharePoint Consulting http://www.sharepointblogs.com/rossonmoss

What happens if you run a trace route from one of the machines to the server? Are there any hops in between the users that might be causing an issue? Also, its possible there could be a delay in resolving the server name through DNS -- you might want to try adding an entry to one of the machines hosts file and see if that has any effect. If it doesn't, then at least you know it isn't DNS :-) Give these things a try and let me know what happens. There's a few more things we can try. Also, do all the XP users have Office 2003 installed? John SharePoint911: SharePoint Consulting http://www.sharepointblogs.com/rossonmoss

John, I already looked at the network side of things, every thing is working the way it should, DNS resolution is near instant (10ms), and there is no weird routing going on. Again all the users are in same place, sitting on the same network, XP users are slow, Vista users are fast... I will check on office 2003, I know that some people have upgraded to office 2007, but I think most have Office 2003.
