Strange issue with ONLY one model.

Only one desktop is failing to properly complete the task sequence.

Issues:

SCCM client is not communicating with the server.

I can only  see four policy's: Machine Pol, Software Updates Depl Eval, Software Updates Scan, and User Policy Ret.

Every policy is generating an error when i try to initiate: The action could not be initiated.

At the end of the task sequence local the local administrator account is locked. I need to go in the safe mode and unlock it.

All the tasks after the installing the client are failing.

Device manager has all drivers installed.

Again only on one model i see those issues. Currently do not have same hardware to test.....

I see those errors in the smsts.log file, not sure if its related?

Hi,

The error you are seeing translates to "The server name or address could not be resolved" so I would start by checking that the computer has a IP address and a working NIC and that it actually can resolve the name of the MP/DP of the SCCM Site.

Jrgen

Thanks for the reply. I have tired different ports and have been building different models on the same ports.

I thought it could a Network driver, but when i log all drivers are there and i am getting an IP.

And i am able to map the drive to DP

I see this error: unknown host (gethostbyname failed)  many times when the Bio/Date/Time are set incorrectly either intially or during the task sequence when the region settings are set or during other update processes to the machine.

What is confusing that this problem is only on one model. I cant replicate it on any other models.

And i tried building a task sequence with just a wim file drivers and one application just to test it and same error.

Hi,

If you have enabled F8 support for your boot image, try to ping your local SCCM server by name, not IP address.
Also check what DNS address is specified in the DHCP scope, as this can also cause issues.

I ran in to this problem once and here is how I solved it:

It drops a wim file. Installs the drivers. Starts installing the sccm client and exits the task sequence.

I just got the same hardware model and build it with no issues.
