Strange Behaviour in WSS3.0
Hi there,
My wss3.0 is driving me crazy:) I'm learning a lot about it at the moment, but the latest behaviour is something I can't understand. I'm running wss3.0 on win2008.
1)When creating a new new site collection in a new application, i get an unknown error. I know I can change my web.config for more detailed errors and I will do this after writing this post.
2)My SPD is unable to create a new worklfow. The workflow is generated, but doesn't start because of compile errors. Unexpected error on server associating the workflow. I tried a simple one step workflow and It generated the same error:(
3)When configuring a sharepoint filter for a simple list, it never gets connected.
I'm not sure, but in my opinion these erros occured first, after I installed SP2.
Has anybody an idea, how I could go on, fighting my problems.
Thanks Stefan

I changed the web.configs on my server. The detailed error thats is thrown when creating a site collection starts like this:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Microsoft.Office.Workflow.Feature.WorkflowFeatureReceiver.FeatureActivated(SPFeatureReceiverProperties properties)
at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFeature.DoActivationCallout(Boolean fActivate, Boolean fForce)
at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFeature.Activate(SPSite siteParent, SPWeb webParent, SPFeaturePropertyCollection props, Boolean fForce)

Something sounds pretty off with your environment. You think that SP2 caused this? Was it working before SP2?--Paul Galvin, Computer Generated Solutions (CGS)

I don't know whats going wrong in my enviroment. I installed SP2 , another Service Pack for the SQL-Server and deployed a simple workflow to the IIS on an application different from Sharepoints That's really erverything I changed. I'm quite new to sharepoint
and I'm currently developping webparts, but I can't imagine that my custom code changed something in my enviroment, because I always deploy my webparts to a working site collection. But also this site collection is running into the errors I stated as 2) and
3).
As far as I know it is not possible to roll back a service pack in sharepoint, so I can't test, if the errors are caused by the SP.
I will try to analyze the logfiles as the next step.

I created a new application as network service, a new site collection and a team site. There are several errors in the log.Starting with these:
No document templates uploaded for list "Master Page Gallery" -- none found for list template "100".
Failed to get all (feature-driven) content types. This web front-end is not joined to the farm.
Failed to get the content type elements.
#5008a: Failed to compare two elements in the array.
Failed to get all (feature-driven) content types. This web front-end is not joined to the farm.
When trying to finish a workflow in SPD the log shows following entries:
RPC method = put documents
RPC method = put document
put file doc URL = Workflows/testWF/testWF.xoml.wfconfig.xml
Cannot complete this action. Please try again.
Thanks in advance Stefan
