Stoping client inventory and discovery while upgrading a site server
Hey , I will be upgrading one of my site server from SP1 to SP2 next week. this site has 2 MP's located on another 2 different servers (working in NLB mode). I'm a bit concern on all of the information that will continue flowing from the MP's while I'm in the proggress of upgrading the server. What is the best way stoping this DDR's and CCR's from reaching the server (And if it is possible keeping them in the MP's untill the upgrade finishes). Thanks - Daniel

You could disable the hardware inventory client agent before the upgrade so that clients will no longer send hinv, but I would not worry about that. Clients will retry sending the inventory if the MP is not reachable; the MP will retry sending the mifs to the siteserver and the clients would send a full inventory if one hinv version would be missing.

I aggree with Torsten, there is no need to stop any client actions jsut because you are doing an upgrade.Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/ | The Danish community for System Center products

Why are you still worried about that scenario? Isn't Kent's and my statement enough? Are there any doubts? If so: which ones? There's no service that copies that files, it's a thread of sms_executive (mpfdm).
