Steps to install R3
I'd like to verify the correct steps required to install R3 into my SCCM R2 environment. Here's what I'm looking at Apply kb977384 hotfix to clients, consoles and all site servers Run Configmgr2007R3.msi on all consoles and site servers Configure power settings in console for agents and collections as required. Does this look about right? Do I also need to update all SCCM clients to the latest rev too? Orange County District Attorney

Looks ok. There's no special R3 client. It's the SP2 client plus the hotfix.

MS IT did a great job of outlining the steps to install R3 in beta - looking at the steps, you should do the same thing for production: (and as a prereq, be sure all your clients are SP2 first!) http://blogs.msdn.com/b/shitanshu/archive/2010/05/04/part-1-configuration-manager-r3-beta-deployment-in-microsoft-it.aspx when you install the .msi on your central site, you will be prompted to create package/program for the client install. Do that on your central site, and you won't need to create that on any child sites. Once the site servers are upgraded, then deploy clients.Greg Ramsey Microsoft MVP - ConfigMgr Dell, Inc.
