Hi, there are some in the administrator guide http://t echnet.microsoft.com/en-us/opsmgr/bb498235.aspxand also some tuning info in each management pack guide. Hi Anders, I am trying to define the rules ina way to only receive those rules for certain group (receiving too much alerst will be ignored by everyone). First, I will need to know which management packs and rules does what (triggers what components.... cpu, low disk space, services are not running or down for some hardware servers if the hardware fails like fan, power supply, hard drives....) I appreciate any help.

Hi, You can look in the console and with MP Viewer to see what rules and monitors you have. Then you can of course also review the MP guide to get a overview of the management pack features. -- Anders MVP - Operations Managerwww.contoso.se Anders Bengtsson | Microsoft MVP - Operations Manager | http://www.contoso.se

I am sorry Mrnix, I have a question for you :) Why do I need to use the MP Viewer (the purpose)? I need to know how to tune the alerts and receive effective and valid alerts. Would the MP viewer help me with that? Thanks for your feedback

Hi Zibak.I misunderstood you. I read your posting about a not working link to MPViewer, so I replied to that. But still with MP Viewe you can see what a MP contains (also its rules & monitors) so you get a better understanding of a certain MP. But as you state, no information about how to tune the Alerts.Best regards, Marnix Wolf (Thoughts on OpsMgr)

Thank you Mrnix, so far I have not been able to find or receive a good and simple document for tunning the alerts. Would you know any (I need to know what a monitor does vrs rules). If not, that's okay. I will search more until I find one. Thanks again for your help

Thank you Marnix, this is very helpful for understanding the differences. I tried to download the MPViewer 1.7 but it requires a URL. I don't have a URL and it's not accepting my email address. Would you help me on downloading it from a site?
