Start menu won't show and Apps closing by themselves on Win 10

Hey guys,

I upgraded my Win 7 Home to Win 10 Home, everything was running just fine until few days ago when my Start menu stopped showing up when I clicked the Windows logo, also when I open an App, like Store, it automatically closes all by itself, what can cause that? I have not installed/uninstalled any App/software from it since I upgraded.

Another thing that stopped showing was the Notifications.

So when I want to start an application I have to open Explorer, browse for it and double click it, this is very annoying, I upgraded because I thought Win 10 was going to be better than Win 7, 8 and 8.1, but so far it's been more of a pain than any other

First step run a system file check
Please run a system file check (SFC) & DISM (if necessary) if you are on win 8 or higher

Second step
  • Windows Key + R on your keyboard, type powershell.
  • Right click on the PowerShell icon on the taskbar >Run as Administrator.
  • Paste the following command >enter
    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
  • Check to see if the start button is working

Hi jurgen,

In addition to ZigZag`s suggestion, we could create a new account to have a check. The present user account may have been corrupted.
