Standalone Clients
Hi, Just wondered if anyone has attempted to manage clients that never have or never will connect to the network, purely from an asset inventory POV. Creating DDRs for these clients and lobbing them into the inboxes\..\..\ folder seems ok, just to get them into the database, but then they'll be scavanged out at some point and the recrords will need to be re-created. Bit of a pain really but just curious if anyone else has had a similar requirement and how you've solved it. Cheers.

Hi, We had a similar request where the clients were installed using SCCM and then never on the network again. We disabled the Maintenance Task that remove inactive clients so that they never were removed, and put a manual process inplace for removing the client manually when the stolen, recycled, replaced e.t.c. It worked OK, the database will grow and be big, that was our only concern. Regards, Jörgen-- My System center blog ccmexec.com --
