Stand Alone SCCM
I have a network that cannot be connected to the public internet but I need a patch program to push updates so they will be up-to-date. Can SCCM be configured to have it's database downloaded on another server and hand-carried to a secure (non-internet)
computer to update workstations also on this secure network.
Summary: I want to use SCCM on computers not hooked up to the public internet
Thank you

It´s a supported scenario. You can use wsusutil.exe to import the udpates from a trusted source (DVD, USB etc).Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/members/Agerlund/default.aspx | The Danish community for System Center products

Will this utility stop the problem that SCCM will not install because of missing components??

I downloaded WSUS30-KB972455-x86.exe and installed the admin console on my Vista workstation but cannot figure out how to use the console to download the updates and patches and database.
Do I need to have a Windows server hooked up to the internet top download the info or can I download the info from a workstation and transfer it over to the servered network server?

Did you run the pre-requisites checker before starting the install?
Is your sccm server connected to the internet?
check out this supported scenario for installing sccm 2007
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680717.aspx
depending on the version of sccm u plan to install i believe u will get the guide in that link.
You need to download the updates components that would make the installation work.
Hope this helps!

you need a wsus server connectec to the Internet. Once you have synched with Windows Update you can run wsusutil.exe export and export the metadata to a cab file. Copy the cab file to the server without Internet connection and run wsusutil import to import
the cab file. Just run wsusutil /? to see a list of commandline properties.Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/members/Agerlund/default.aspx | The Danish community for System Center products

What is the correct terminology for this scenario?
What is the terminology for the database or information I need to transfer to the stand-alone server?
thank you

hi,
if you mean the metadata from the wsus db to the sccm then you dont do it manually thats what gets transferred during the syn between the sccm and wsus.

Are you asking for "How to Synchronize Updates Using Export and Import" (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680473.aspx)?
