Stacked chart on row-based values?
Hi. I have a dataset that originally is in the form (Date, Widget, Count):
2011-03-03 D 3
2011-03-23 B 2
2011-02-08 A 3
2011-02-25 B 4
2011-02-22 C 4
2011-02-22 A 14
2011-03-01 A 2
2011-03-15 C 6
2011-03-29 D 1
2011-02-17 D 6
2011-02-17 C 3
2011-03-16 B 17
2011-03-30 A 2
2011-02-15 A 1
2011-03-01 D 4
2011-03-08 C 1
2011-02-10 D 7
If I want to build a stacked column chart, am I required to pivot the data into this format (Date, WidgetA_Count, WidgetB_Count, WidgetC_Count, WidgetD_Count)?
2011-02-07 3 0 6 0
2011-02-08 3 0 3 4
2011-02-09 0 0 0 1
2011-02-10 1 0 0 7
2011-02-14 3 0 0 0
2011-02-15 1 0 0 1
Thanks for any info. I would prefer to use my dataset as-is before adding an unnecessary PIVOT function.

Hi,
You can do this in Stacked chart.
- Put date in Category Group
- Put count in value
- Put widget in Series group- Chintak (My Blog)

Unbelievable how close I was...
I wish I could better understand the relationship/defintion of Category and Series.
In Excel, "series" suggests the progression of the y-axis along the x-axis.
But in RS, "series" is the breakdown of y-values for a certain x?
