Spell Checker went missing
Hi all, Recently the Spelling... button has disappeared from the New Forms on my SharePoint site. They were there before and I am not sure how they went missing. I have looked for a way to enable the Spell Checker but I have found nothing. Does anyone know where it might have gone? Thanks in advance!- Jeff Barton

Bump. I thought this might have something to do with the fact that I'm using FBA, but I logged in through Windows Authentication and it is still missing (I got this idea from the fact that datasheet view does not work through FBA). It was there at one point, I swear. It still exists on other sites as well, but it has gone rogue on this one site in particular. Of course this happens to be the one site where the client actually ASKED to have spell checking, go figure. Any thoughts? Anyone?- Jeff Barton

Hi, I am not quite clear about your new forms. About the spelling, it will show some special places only like create new publish page or add/edit list/library item with text fields. For more information about the spelling, please refer to: http://www.developer.com/services/article.php/3769651/Modifying-Spell-Check-for-SharePoint-Server-2007.htm Hope it is helpful!Seven

Jeff, Spell checker is a feature enabled solution. Could you check that it is enabled at each of these levels (these are form the top of my head - I Currently don't have a SP VM booted up): -Central Admin > Operations > Features and Solutions -Central Admin > Application Management > Web Application Features -Site Collection > Site Actions > Site Collection Features -Site (on each site) > Site Actions > Site Features RegardsRegards, Aaron www.aaron-rendell.co.uk

Thanks for your reply Seven. To clarify, the "Spelling..." button is not present on the Toolbar Menu for each and every New and Edit Form on the site. I am not sure how else to describe it. It is just not there. All I have are buttons for "Attach File" (New and Edit Forms) or "Delete" (Edit Forms). The "Spelling..." button use to be on that toolbar as well, but it is no longer there. I was hoping there was an On/Off switch somewhere that might have been flipped, but even if such a switch existed I know I have not touched it so I am inclined to believe something else is going on. I have read through the article you linked to in your post. Although I could probably recreate the functionality using what is there, I believe I should not have to do that as I am only trying to use an existing feature that went missing. I just need to find out what happened to it...- Jeff Barton

Thanks for your reply Aaron. I have indeed checked all of those locations and no such feature exists. However I believe I now know what is going on... This seems to be a MOSS feature. The site, although originally created on a MOSS installation, is now on a WSS installation. I thought it was still there after moving it to WSS, but now I am pretty positive it was not. The client hasn't brought up the Spell Checker in a while, so I haven't thought about it. Aaron, you indirectly answered my question, and for that I thank you! Although it is a bummer that the Spell Checker doesn't exist for WSS...- Jeff Barton
