Some advertisements not kicking off
Got a non-consistent issue and would appreciate some advice please. Ive advertised a OCS application to the entire site. Some machines are not kicking off, it seems to be at one particular site, but most of the machines at the site have the advertisement and are functional. Ive performed the following Im using the SCCM Client Center tool to tell me if the advertisement is there. I singled one machine out and checked the locationservices.log Errors include - Failed to update certificate information from AD Failed to verify the mp thumbprint with error 0x80070057 So from SCCM Client Center I did the Cleanup Message Queues and Delete SMS Certificates The strange thing is, this machine in particular has completely separate advertisement already listed, so it is communicating.... Im assuming the advertisement is functioning, ive made it mandatory and 20 machines out of about 300 dont have it .. most are at one particular site. Im assuming the site is ok, becuase some machines are getting it It feels like a client issue, should I repair the clients? Where else can i check? I think the locationservices.log errors are a redherring..

Hello - I would like you to check the MP health. Try MPList and MPCert. Also, check the IIS logs, MPControl.log from the server side. Policyagent.log from the client side? See, to kick start the advert http://blogs.technet.com/b/deploymentguys/archive/2011/01/18/kick-starting-sccm-advertisements.aspx?goback=%2Egmp_3726656%2Egde_3726656_member_41690302 Anoop C Nair

Check the ClientIDManagerStartup.log for errors. Cross-reference to this blog post for a possible solution depending on what you find: http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys/archive/2011/01/05/strange-things-are-afoot-regtask-failed-to-get-certificate-error-0x80004005.aspx.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys
