Some SCOM questions
Hi All, I have some Questions related to SCOM. Sorry to bring them up together and not posting them as seperate questions. (1) How to disable 100 Rules in a MP at a time in one shot. (2) On the SCOM agent is there a log file that can tell why did the agent went into "unhealthy" or "not monitored" state. If yes then what is the location of that file and the file name. (3) How to install SCOM agents on the SCOM Gateway server. (4) What is self tuning performance Threshold Monitor. (5) What are the limitations in SCOM 2012. (6) If a SCOM MS goes down, will the agents pointed to that MS automatically failover to another MS. Where is that setting done. Thanks & regards, Sumit Agrawal

Thanks Dktoa for the links. (1) The Link shows how to disable one rule at a time. What if i want to disable 100 Rules together, can it be done ? (2) Is ETL Log file an answer to my question? (5) I read the articles. but none of them say about any limitations of SCOM 2012. Is there any ?Thanks & regards, Sumit Agrawal

Hi (2) On the SCOM agent is there a log file that can tell why did the agent went into "unhealthy" or "not monitored" state. If yes then what is the location of that file and the file name. Windows event log - there is an OperationsManager event log that will give details. (3) How to install SCOM agents on the SCOM Gateway server. You do not install an agent on a gateway or management server. The gateway \ management server includes the agent functionality. (4) What is self tuning performance Threshold Monitor. Try to avoid - great in theory but somewhat lacking in practice: http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/category/self-tuning-thresholds/ (5) What are the limitations in SCOM 2012. This is too open ended. What do you need SCOM 2012 to do and we'll advise if it is possible. (6) If a SCOM MS goes down, will the agents pointed to that MS automatically failover to another MS. Where is that setting done. Yes - and you can use powershell to control this. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/operationsmanagergeneral/thread/df9de332-b5f8-41ef-977c-18f25a0ccaa2/Regards Graham New System Center 2012 Blog! - http://www.systemcentersolutions.co.uk View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/
