Software deployment stop working
Hi, We met some problem with software deployement. Sometimes, the client did not seen the update we approved. We made some "wuauclt /detectnow" but nothing happened. We used some group, one by service and another for the software we used in all servcie. So we have the client in two groups (or more) with software in deployement status. Is ther some limitation for the group (number) ? A client can be a member of more than one group? What is the difference between the group made in the computers view and the group created in the Authoring view? Thank you for your help PS: SCE 2007 SP1 in Windows 2003 R2 64bit and the SQL Server Standard in other system (Windows 2003 R2 64bits too) PPS: this was never happened with security update just software Jerome

Hi Jerome, 1. Make sure you didn't select "Publish to Add/Remove Porgrams", otherwise the software can only been displayed in Add/Remove Programs, not the taskbar. 2. Make sure all of you clients are the members of SCE Managed Computer group, and SCE Managed Computes group policy has been successfully applied. 3. The maximum mumber of groups that can be created are 29. More groups will break any syncronization with WSUS, actually render SCE nonfunctional for software installation. 4. A client can be a member of more than one group. 5. The groups in Authoring view are the groups created by yourself or the group contained in Management pack by default.

Hi Eric,Thank you for your quick answer. The two first point are OK. So I don't understand why, sometimes, any software did not deployed in the computer. The client (file windowsupdate.log) did not see any new update and in the server, the deployment status did not appear even if we deploy software in his group. We will try to create group in the computer view instead of the authoring mode. We just use this group for deployment purpose in adding manually the client. If someone have some good idea?JeromeJerome

Hi Jerome, On one of your client, run "regedit" to open registry editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\windows\WindowsUpdate Could you please check and make sure that WUserver and WUStatusserver has been configure as the URL of the SCE server with port number

Hi Eric,Yes for the two keys. All of them are well configured. The strange thing is, in the log "WindowsUpdate.log", it wassaid there is no update forthe clientfrom the server. Is there some kind of replication or misconfiguration between the console and the real paramters. The console could show wrong things?JeromeJerome

Hi everyone,I have got some news. Our problem is not solve but I have some clues. In the WSUS Console we did not see the same thing that in the SCE console. The members group are not the same. It is like there is no synchronisation between SCE and WSUS. That's why we believe there is no deployement but in fact we deploy things in empty group.Have you got some issue for this synchronisation problem?JeromeJerome
