Software Updates end user approval for updates installation
Hello, Once again I would like to consult to this forum how can I achieved an specific capability in SCCM 2007 R3. What I want to accomplish is to deploy an updates based in my "Update List" and deploy it to the Computers and then the end user will be prompted of the updates that I define in my Update list so that the end user can select the updates that the end user require or approved to be installed to the computer. The only way to do this is via option advertisement of the Software Updates to your clients.http://www.enhansoft.com/

Can you explain more details about this procedure, as I emplemented in my LAB using the advertisement it only shows that Updates are available when a ballon pops up on the End User Desktop but what I would like to have is, I have an Update List and it the updates will be advertised to the computers there is a list of all the updates included on the Update List and the End User can check/choose what updates they wanit to be installed. I don't think there is a way to do that. ConfigMgr's SW Updates UI is designed to "offer" *all* available/applicable updates in one "lump" so you only get to "Install" the "lump". Even if you created a set of SUM deployments, with each deployment only having one update in each, the client UI will still "lump" them together (subject to applicability etc). You may be thinking of WU/AU (like an unmanaged PC) where you can scan/evaluate and be very selective about which of the updates you want to install (very granular, down to the individual update package). Similar experience can be configured with WSUS (ask before download, and ask before install, etc) Happy to be corrected on this :) and also this question would be better asked in the SUM forum http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-AU/configmgrsum/threads Don

Sorry, I have this very wrong! (I just arrived at work to check this and I do have checkboxes against each update, so I can pick and choose which ones to install). In my case, this is the result of mandatory (deadlined) updates, where the deadline has not yet arrived.Don
