Software Updates SSL Cert Issues

Hi All,

I have been scratching my head with issues that all clients are experiencing with installing Software Updates.
The latest deployment of Monthly Updates has come back in the deployment tab as Unknown and after having a closer look at the windowsupdate.log on the client machines they are all having the following errors.

2015-08-20 10:24:05:498 624 1ba0 Misc FATAL: SOAP/WinHttp - SendRequest: SSL Cert security check failed. error 0x80072ef3

Recently I had to renew a certificate for the DP as it expired and since then it has not worked, I have renewed the IIS/Web Server certificate without issue and when troubleshooting the certificate appears to be working fine and WSUS is fine no errors in the site status.

Its a single site server and has all components on the one server.
When I try to Server URL = https://FQDN:8531/SimpleAuthWebService/SimpleAuth.asmx or even Server URL = https://FQDN:8531 IE returns the error page cannot be displayed. So in my mind it all points to a certificate error but it appears fine.

Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi,

I recommend you capture the network using netmon to see what happened.
