Software Update Actions not showing on Cross Forest Client with only DP installed

I am working through an implementation of SCCM where I have multiple Forests (without any trusts). I have installed a DP in a foreign forest and after installing the client on a member of this forest, I am only seeing the following two actions:

  • Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
  • User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle

Must I also install an MP in order for the client to gain access to other Actions?

Placing an MP in the remote forest is optional. Having only 2 actions available indicates that the clients were not able to retrieve policies from the MP. Examine the client logs.

I've been looking through my logs endlessly and am not finding anything. Both server and client firewalls are disabled. I'm simply not seeing where the problem is.

The client installs successfully and the device is seen in Config Mgr console. I have approved it. None of my boundaries overlap. I am using IP range boundaries that are in 4 separate boundary groups. Each range is small:

192.168.0.209 - 192.168.0.214 (Local Domain Servers)

192.168.0.217 - 192.168.0.222 (Local Domain Desktops)

192.168.0.150 - 192.168.0.151 (Foreign Domain Servers)

192.168.0.153 - 192.168.0.155 (Foreign Domain Desktops)

I ran into this yesterday and when I installed an MP in the foreign forest my client worked fine.

Any ideas?
