Site template issue
Hi, I took a template from a server(source Server) and tried to create a site using that template in another server(destination server). But in the destination server it was throwing an exception "The template you have chosen is invalid or cannot be found. at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.ApplyWebTemplate(String bstrUrl, String& bstrWebTemplate, Int32& plWebTemplateId) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.ApplyWebTemplate(String bstrUrl, String& bstrWebTemplate, Int32& plWebTemplateId) " So i dig a bit and found out that source server and Destination server versions differs. Source server - 12.0.0.6421 Destination server - 12.0.0.6510 My question: Is this exception occur due to this server versions difference? If so is it possible to downgrade Destination server version/patch? (coz its not possible to make any changes to Source server) Thanks in advance!

> If so is it possible to downgrade Destination server version/patch? Fixes are all listed in the "Add or Remove programs" option in Control Panel provide you specify that you want all programs listed and don't just take the default listing. If removing them you should remove them by starting with the latest; (re-boot = my safety-first ploy) and working backwards deleting as you go until you hit the version level you want. Yes, some of the hotfix cannot be removed. I do not know SharePoint would be allowed to downgrade, as some of the hotfix may change the database schema and a higher version database cannot be attached to a lower version farm. Instead of considering downgrade your farm, I suggest you to upgrade your source server to match the destination server. Before that, I think you should investigate more on the template itself. What kind of the template? Is it .stp file saved from a site? If so, what is the orignal site template? Sincerely, Lambert Qin Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

It was the problem with template. When I add the template using Sharepoint UI, it didn't work. But when i add same template using STSADM its working fine. weird!!!
