Site Mailbox connection does not appear in Outlook Client/OWA

Hello,

I was able to configure Sharepoint 2013/Exchange 2013 (both on Windows Server 2012 R2) for Site Mailbox and followed directions from several well respected articles and from the Technet: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj552524.aspx

Initially, I had issues with SharePoint locating the GAC but that that was fixed by removing and reinstalling EwsManagedApi.msi.  All the scripts mentioned below ran successfully.

Check-SiteMailboxConfig.ps1

Set-SiteMailboxConfig.ps1

Configure-EnterprisePartnerApplication.ps1

My Farm is one FE server and one SQL server.  I was able to  add a site Mailbox in a Team Site.  And when I clicked on the APP, it redirected me to OWA successfully. (it prompted me for credentials.  not sure if SSO is in effect here)  Users in the Team Site are all Owners.  Unfortunately, nobody including myself sees the Site Mailbox in Outlook client.

We are using Office 2013.  The Site Mailbox does not show up when we login into our OWA.  We also don't see "manage site mailboxes" when we right click on our Inbox folder via Outlook Client.  When we login to our Account in OWA and choose Options, we see that we have permissions to Access the Site Mailbox.  We started the Sync manually and it was successful.  But still can't see the Site Mailbox in OWA or Client.   Scoured through the blogs, forums, microsoft but nothing.  An suggestions is much appreciated.

Hi,

As I understand, the Site Mailbox did not show up in Outlook Client/OWA.

Please try the following steps, and to check if it can work:

1. Logon to your mailbox in OWA, click on the users display name, select Open another mailbox, input the site mailboxs address, and click Open.

2. Restart Outlook client, on the left panel, right click on your users mailbox, click Manage All Site Mailboxes, check if the site mailbox in question is showed, and please select the check-box under Show in Outlook.

If still no help, please try to disable the Site mailbox feature, and re-enable the feature to see if any improvement.

There is a similar case:

Hi Sara,

1. Logon to your mailbox in OWA, click on the users display name, select Open another mailbox, input the site mailboxs address, and click Open.

I was able to open the Site Mailbox via My OWA.  I was NOT able to open the Site Mailbox using Outlook Client.  It says "You cannot open site Mailbox Special Folders".  I wasn't sure if this functions the same way as OWA.  I do see that the Site Mailbox is Active, I have the Owner role and sync was successful.

2. Restart Outlook client, on the left panel, right click on your users mailbox, click Manage All Site Mailboxes, check if the site mailbox in question is showed, and please select the check-box under Show in Outlook.

"Manage All Site Mailboxes" is not on the Menu (missing).

If still no help, please try to disable the Site mailbox feature, and re-enable the feature to see if any improvement.

This didn't help.  Since the "Operations" site is a subsite, I enabled it on the root site as well.  But a no go. Again, Site Mailbox is working in the SharePoint site.  It can receive and send emails. To be honest, I'm more interested in getting the Outlook Client to work. :)

Anything else I can do?

Thanks

Hi,

You can check if the site mailbox name has a prefix: MDEL. As the site mailbox name has a prefix: MDEL, this means that the Site mailbox is marked for deletion.

Once, the site mailbox is marked for deletion, i.e. its name has a prefix MDEL, the site mailbox cannot be restored, or reactivated. In fact, this is by design behavior, and the only solution will be to create a new site mailbox.

Best regards,

The Site Mailbox name does not have the prefix: MDEL.

Thanks

Hi Dave,

Have you configured SSO in your environment? If so, please check in your Active Directory, and ensure the UPN of the site mailbox user(AD object) is the same as domain setting up for federation(mostly the same one as its primary SMTP address). If the UPN is correct, please follow the steps below to further troubleshoot the issue.

 1. Check your Exchange Autodiscover service with the Microsoft Remote Connectivity tool https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/. Since the auto-mapping for site mailbox to be opened in Outlook relays on Autodiscover. If Autodiscover is working well, please create a new Outlook profile to see whether the site mailbox can be attached.
 2. Try to use the "Open additional mailbox" feature to add the site mailbox in your Outlook.
 http://www.groovypost.com/howto/add-additional-mailbox-in-outlook-2013/
 3. I am wondering whether the STS OAuthe trusted is working well in your environment, given that you are prompt for credentials when opening site mailbox from SharePoint. Please re-run the "Check-SiteMailboxConfig.ps1" in your SharePoint WFE, and observe any output, especially certificate issue.

In case there is any error message, related output when you doing the above steps, please post them here for our research.

Thanks,
