Site Collection Information Management Policies

I have created many Information Management Policies at Library level for Content Types based on System and Custom Date Columns.

My question is, Why, when I set up the Policies at the Site Collection Level are the Custom Date Columns not available and is there a way of using these in my Site Policies.

Hi Ross,

What did you mean for policies at the site collection level? I am wondering whether you mean that you create information management policies at site content types.

I did a testing as:

  1. Create a custom site column called "CustomDate"
  2. Open the site content type "Document", then add columns from existing site columns.
  3. Then select the CustomDate, and under "update all content types inheriting from this type?", select No.
  4. Click Information management policy settings, and enable retention
  5. When adding a retention stage, I could select CustomDate, like the screenshot below:

Please test again as the above, or create a custom content type and add a Date site column, test.
